Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged his party members to promote the positive aspects of the government's social security programs, as the Opposition parties launched "below the belt" attacks after their defeat in the Northeast elections.

“The Prime Minister said the Opposition is nervous after the BJP’s impressive performance in the recent elections in the Northeast. They had a similar reaction after BJP’s Gujarat victory too,” said a source present in the meeting, reports The Indian Express.

During a meeting, a member of parliament stated that the Prime Minister said the opposition will intensify their attacks as they are unsettled by BJP's consecutive victories. The attacks will get worse with every win, especially now after their success in Gujarat and Northeast regions.

The Bharatiya Janata Party won Tripura's majority, formed Nagaland and Meghalaya's governments with NDDP and NPP, respectively.

PM Modi addressed BJP MPs for the first time during the resumed budget session on March 13. The session was marred with adjournments as the Opposition protested Rahul Gandhi's disqualification and demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the Adani issue.

The Prime Minister was referring to the ongoing tension between the Opposition and the ruling party over Rahul Gandhi's disqualification after being convicted in a defamation case by a Surat court over his alleged “how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname?” remark.

According to the report, the PM urged MPs to prioritise the implementation of social security schemes and emphasised the success of the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign in improving sex ratio in Gujarat.
