Lawrence Bishnoi.
The government tasked DGP Gaurav Yadav to submit a report on TV interview of Lawrence Bishnoi, a criminal, aired yesterday (15 March).
However, Punjab prisons department has denied recording of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's viral TV interview within the state jail.
The Chief Secretary instructed the DGP to investigate the interview and provide a report on the location and time of the recording.
Bishnoi declined to share interview details, according to senior Jail Department officials.
According to Bathinda Jail Superintendent ND Negi, the recently circulated video hasn't been recorded in Bathinda jail or any other prison in Punjab, and the accused is currently held in the high-security area of Bathinda jail.
Negi warns that anyone found guilty of spreading false news and damaging the reputation of Punjab Prisons administration will be punished.
Sukhbir Singh Badal criticised the AAP government for the worsening law and order situation in the state.
Sukhbir criticized CM Bhagwant Mann, saying his failure as Home Minister stripped him of moral authority to govern, and suggested that the state was being controlled by gangsters.
Sukhbir responded to an interview given by Lawrence Bishnoi to a TV channel, stating that it was apparent the interview took place while Bishnoi was in prison.
Sukhbir expressed concern that gangsters have easy access to mobile phones while incarcerated, and openly brag about their violent crimes and extortion schemes.
Sukhbir stated that due to the breakdown of law and order in the state and Mann's link to a planned murder of Sidhu Moosewala, he has lost the moral right to remain in the CM office.
The Bishnoi gang reportedly used the prison system to execute murders, as evidenced by the recent killing of rival gang members.
