Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, embarked on a day-long "personal, spiritual visit" to Amritsar, where he visited the iconic Golden Temple.
Notably, the Congress leader also actively participated in sewa, a form of community service integral to the Golden Temple's ethos. He was seen washing dishes alongside other volunteers, embracing the essence of selfless service.
Local Congress authorities revealed that Rahul Gandhi had decided to spend the night in the city, signifying the personal significance of his visit.
Earlier in the day, Punjab Congress president Raja Waring took to social media, urging party members and well-wishers to respect Gandhi's privacy during this spiritual journey.
Bhagwantpal Singh Sachar, a prominent local Congress leader, disclosed that Rahul Gandhi arrived in Amritsar via a chartered plane. For his overnight stay, he secured a room at one of the inns operated by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
Additionally, arrangements were made in a private hotel near Darbara Sahib for accommodating his security personnel. Last time Gandhi visited Darbara Sahib was during his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
