Congress workers on Tuesday pasted posters praising Palakkad MP VK Sreekandan on the windows of Vande Bharat Express' wagon as soon as it reached Shoranur in Kerala's Palakkad area during its maiden journey.

Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (25 April), the first Vande Bharat Express in Kerala links Thiruvananthapuram with Kasargod, with stops at Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Shoranur Junction, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod.

A video shared by ANI showed people pasting posters of Congress MP V K Sreekandan on the train in praise of his role in ensuring a stop at Shoranur Junction.

In the clip, people were seen holding posters and placards of Sreekandan and as soon as the train slowed down upon its arrival, the Congress workers welcomed it by putting posters all over the window panes.

However, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel tore down the posters, which led to an argument between the worker and the officer, reports Manorama.

Railway Protection Force has registered a case in the incident and an investigation is underway, ANI reported.

The poster congratulated the Palakkad MP for ensuring the Vande Bharat train stopped at Shornur rail.

BJP state president K Surendran condemned the incident, alleging that it was the action of the MP’s supporters.

According to the reports, district Congress Committee leadership clarified that no instructions were given to any party worker to put up the posters on the train.

Sreekandan reportedly said he had not authorised anyone to paste his posters on the train and alleged that the BJP was deliberately trying to create a controversy out of it.
