Rajasthan Elections: Congress Promises Caste Census, Rs 10,000 Annual Honorarium Among Other 'Guarantees' In Election Manifesto
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and party leaders release the party's manifesto for the state assembly elections.
The Congress party released its manifesto, 'Jan Ghoshna Patra,' for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections, on Tuesday (21 November).
Led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and key leaders including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, the manifesto outlines key promises if the party returns to power.
Congress also promised a new scheme for recruitment at the panchayat level and caste census in the Rajasthan election manifesto if it returns to power in the state, reported Hindustan Times.
Among the commitments highlighted by Gehlot, the Congress envisions achieving the number-one position in per capita income by 2030, citing a 46.48 per cent increase in Rajasthan's per capita income.
Gehlot had previously announced seven "guarantees" to the people of Rajasthan if the Congress is re-elected, including an annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 under the Griha Lakshmi Yojana, affordable LPG cylinders, and a law for the old pension scheme for government employees.
Other guarantees include providing laptops or tablets to students in government colleges, insurance cover up to Rs 15 lakh per family for natural calamities, and enhancing the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
Meanwhile, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also released its manifesto, setting the stage for a competitive election.
Rajasthan is scheduled to go to the polls on 25 November, with vote counting on 3 December.
In the 2018 elections, the Congress won 99 seats, leading to the formation of the government with Chief Minister Gehlot at the helm, supported by BSP MLAs and Independents.
The BJP had secured 73 seats in the 200-member House during the same elections in 2018.
