EPS meets Amit Shah and JP Nadda in presence of Annamalai
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda at Shah's residence in Delhi.
BJP state president K Annamalai was also present at the meeting.
The meeting is significant as it comes amidst the ongoing tussle between the AIADMK and the BJP that started after BJP leaders like IT Wing head CTR Nirmal Kumar and state secretary Dilip Kannan, who left the party citing problems with the state leadership especially Annamalai, were welcomed into the AIADMK by EPS.
Of late the narrative that EPS and Annamalai do not get along with each other has gained credence after statements by EPS telling reporters not to ask him about Annamalai and that he would discuss the issue of alliance only with the national leadership.
While there are no details of what was discussed during the meeting, it indicates that the national leadership of the BJP is unlikely to take decisions on Tamil Nadu affairs in the absence of its state president Annamalai.
According to political commentators, the visit is also important because it comes a few days after the AIADMK withdrew its candidate in the Karnataka Assembly polls at the request of the BJP and a 'show of strength' by former chief minister O Panneerselvam (OPS) in Tiruchirappalli.
