Ahed of hearing in the Umesh Pal abduction case in the MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, security was deployed outside the residence of Umesh Pal and his advocate.
Only the Umesh Pal abduction case will be heard today in Prayagraj's MP-MLA court, according to the District Bar Association of Prayagraj.
The Presiding Officer of MP MLA Court has written to the Minister of District Advocates Association. The Bar Association said that a request for a verdict on 28 March has also been made.
Atiq Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician and an accused in the case, was transferred from Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail to Naini Jail in Prayagraj after a 24-hour long drive.
He will be produced today before the court in connection with the Umesh Pal kidnapping case, reports Zee News.
Naini prison saw increased security with more uniformed personnel deployed outside the premises.
On Sunday (26 March), the Uttar Pradesh police took Atiq Ahmed out of Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad with a 45-member team.
Ahmed, upon leaving Sabarmati jail, reportedly warned of a conspiracy to kill him under the guise of court orders.
Atiq Ahmed, surrounded by 45 UP police officers, claimed that they were intending to use court orders to justify his murder, as he was escorted into a police van.
Ahmed is the main accused in the murder case of Umesh Pal, who was the prime witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Umesh Pal and his two security personnel were shot dead on 24 February in Prayagraj.
