BJP core committee meeting in Jaipur
BJP chief J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held extensive discussions throughout the night in Jaipur regarding the party's strategy for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly polls.
The meeting commenced at a Jaipur hotel late on Wednesday (27 September) evening and continued until 2 am, NDTV reported quoting party sources.
In order to strengthen its position in the polls , the party has reportedly decided to field Union Ministers and MPs on challenging seats.
This meeting comes after the BJP's recent announcement of including three Union ministers and four MPs in its second list of candidates for the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh.
In Rajasthan, Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat may be chosen as a candidate in the assembly polls, alongside several other MPs.
During the meeting, the BJP leadership made the decision not to project a Chief Minister face during the state's campaign.
Instead, the party will adopt a combined leadership approach.
This move aims to prevent the ambitions and rivalries of regional leaders from overshadowing the party's objectives and reinforces the principle of "party above individual."
New Potential candidates for the position of Rajasthan chief minister in the event of a BJP victory include Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a union minister, Dr Kirodi Lal Meena, a Rajya Sabha MP, as well as Diya Kumar, Rajyavardhan Rathore, and Sukhveer Singh Jaunpuria, all Lok Sabha MPs.
It should be noted that despite being widely regarded as the BJP's most prominent and influential leader in the state, Vasundhara Raje, a two-term Chief Minister and member of the Scindia royal family, is unlikely to make a comeback.
