Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party Targets 65 Out Of 80 Seats, As It Emphasises Need For Caste Census And Social Justice

The Samajwadi Party has signaled its intention to contest on 65 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming 2024 elections.
Party president Akhilesh Yadav, during a meeting with the party's state executive committee in Lucknow, called upon party workers to prepare diligently to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, as reported by NDTV.
Akhilesh Yadav emphasised the significance of the 2024 elections, stating that it will determine the future of coming generations and is the last opportunity to safeguard democracy and the Constitution.
He urged party workers to make comprehensive preparations to remove the BJP from power.
The Samajwadi Party also indicated that it will contest on 65 seats, reserving the remaining for its allies.
Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary confirmed the president's intent to contest 65 seats and emphasised the need for strong preparations at the booth level to prevent the BJP from returning to power.
Responding to questions about the party's participation in the I.N.D.I. Alliance during the parliamentary elections, Chaudhary stated, "There is an alliance for the Lok Sabha elections, that is certain."
Party spokesman Faqrul Hasan Chand further confirmed that the Samajwadi Party, being the largest party in the state and part of the I.N.D.I. Alliance, will contest on 65 out of the 80 seats, leaving the remaining seats for its allies.
A caste census was highlighted as a crucial aspect of the party's fight for social justice, with Yadav emphasising the need for such a census to ensure that everyone receives their rights and respect.
Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence that the Samajwadi Party will emerge as a viable alternative to the BJP, despite challenges such as false cases being implicated against party workers and efforts to influence elections through administrative misuse.
