PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (27 September) said that his government's aim is to transform India into a global growth engine, and the country will soon be an economic powerhouse on the world stage.
Speaking at an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, PM Modi highlighted the journey from sowing small seeds of a "Vibrant Gujarat" two decades ago to witnessing its transformation into a flourishing entity today.
"We organised Vibrant Gujarat to make the state a growth engine of India. After 2014, our aim has been to make India a global growth engine," he said addressing a gathering of industrialists and businessmen.
The Prime Minister assured that India would be among the top three economies in the world within a few years.
“Today India is the fastest growing economy in the world. Now we are standing at a turning point where India is going to become a global economic powerhouse. Now India has to become the third largest economy in the world.”, he said.
“The next 20 years are more important than the last 20 years. When Vibrant Gujarat completes 40 years, India will not be far away from the centenary of its independence. This is the time when India will have to create a roadmap that will make it a developed and self-reliant nation by 2047”, PM Modi said.
PM Modi also said that Vibrant Gujarat achieved its success during a time when the previous UPA government was "indifferent" to the industrial progress of the state.
PM Modi said that despite his dictum of ‘country’s development through the development of Gujarat’, the development of Gujarat was seen from a political prism.
He added that foreign investors chose Gujarat despite intimidation. This was despite no special incentive, PM Modi added.
He said the main attraction was good governance, fair and policy-driven governance, and an equal system of growth and transparency.
