The West Bengal government is imposing a ban on the screening of recently release movie 'The Kerala Story' across all theatres in the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the decision at the state secretariat.

CM Banerjee said that she has directed the chief secretary to immediately ensure the film is removed from screens running it in the state. She claimed that the decision has been taken to "maintain peace in Bengal” and avoid any incident to hate crime and violence.

CM Banerjee alleged that "the BJP was funding a film on Bengal on the lines of Kashmir Files" based on "distorted and concocted stories just like the recently released movie The Kerala Story".

“BJP is showing The Kerala Story, a distorted story. A few days back, some stars funded by BJP came to Bengal, and with some distorted and concocted story, they are preparing Bengal Files,” the CM charged.

"First they came with Kashmir Files, now it’s Kerala Story and then they are planning for Bengal files. Why the BJP is trying to create communal problem? Kerela Story is an attempt to defame Kerala with distorted facts." CM claimed.
