PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bengaluru today (26 August) to congratulate and interact with ISRO scientists involved in India's Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Following the BRICS summit in South Africa and a maiden visit to Greece, PM Modi arrived at the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru to greet the scientists behind the historic Chandrayaan-3 mission.
PM Modi's visit comes days after India became the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first nation to land its spacecraft on the Lunar South Pole.
The Prime Minister was received at ISTRAC by ISRO chief S Somanath and other scientists.
Addressing the gathering at the ISRO centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that from now onwards, every year, 23 August will be celebrated as the National Space Day.
The point where the moon lander of Chandrayaan-3 landed will now be known as 'Shiv Shakti', PM Modi announced.
He also announced that the site where Chandrayaan-2's left its imprint will be known as 'Tiranga' (Tricolour).
PM Modi described the moments after Chandrayaan-3 touchdown was confirmed on the Moon as 'unforgettable'.
He added that India's 'Moon Lander' has firmly set its foot on the Moon like 'Angad'.
"Today, the entire world is witnessing and accepting the strength of India's scientific spirit, our technology and our scientific temperament," he said, adding the Chandrayaan mission is not only India's success but that of the humanity.
He said that India's women scientists, the country's Nari Shakti, have played a big role in the success of Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.
"Today, from trade to technology, India is being counted among the countries standing in the first row. In the journey from 'third row' to 'first row', institutions like our 'ISRO' have played a huge role," he said.
"Today, the name of Chandrayaan is resonating among children of India. Every child is seeing his or her future in the scientists," he added.
