In a well-coordinated operation, Kulgam Police, working together with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), successfully busted two terrorist cells and captured five individuals associated with the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The operation also led to the recovery of firearms and ammunition, as reported by official sources.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Aadil Hussain Wani, Suhail Ahmad Dar, Aitmad Ahmad Laway, Mehraj Ahmad Lone, and Sabzar Ahmad Khaar.
A substantial quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from their possession, including two pistols, three hand grenades, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), two pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds, and 21 AK-47 rounds, according to a statement issued.
"In this regard, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Qaimoh and Police Station," the police statement stated.
This crackdown on terror modules follows closely on the heels of an extended encounter in J&K's Anantnag district, which concluded on its seventh day with the discovery of the body of local terrorist Uzair Khan.
However, authorities have emphasized that the search operation will persist as several areas are yet to be cleared.
ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, speaking to reporters, stated, "the search operation will continue as many areas are still left...we would appeal to the public to not go there because there are many grenades there. We had information about two to three terrorists."
"It's possible that we find the third body somewhere, that's why we will complete the search operation. We found the body of the LeT Commander and retrieved it; we could also spot another body...We're looking for the third body," added Kumar.
