The government announced in Lok Sabha that Naxal violence has decreased by 77 per cent and deaths related to the incidents have reduced by 90 per cent over the past 12 years.
According to Nityanand Rai, Union Minister of State for Home, Left Wing Extremism-related violence is now limited to 176 police stations across 45 districts, reflecting a significant reduction in its geographical spread in 2022.
In 2010, 465 police stations across 96 districts reported LWE-related violence.
Rai has stated that the number of LWE-related deaths has declined from 1005 in 2010 to 98 in 2022, when responding to a written inquiry.
In 2010, the SRE scheme covered 126 districts, but by July 2021, the number had reduced to 70, with only 90 being covered in April 2018.
Rai reported significant improvement in Jharkhand's security status with a near-fill of the existing security gap in the state.
Burha Pahar, Tri-junction of West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti, and Parasnath Hills are now liberated from Maoists by security forces through establishment of camps and sustained operations, he said.
Jharkhand's violent incidents fell 82 per cent from 742 in 2009 to 132 in 2022, according to Rai.
