Supreme Court heard a plea by Udhayanidhi Stalin seeking the clubbing of FIRs against him
The Supreme Court today (14 August) issued notice on Udhayanidhi Stalin’s plea to club first information reports (FIRs) filed against him for his remarks on Sanatana Dharma, which he compared to diseases like dengue and malaria.
A Bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Sanjay Kumar stated that the cases would need to be tried outside Tamil Nadu.
The court asked him to suggest a convenient location during the next date of hearing, which would be in November.
Udhayanidhi initially sought the clubbing of FIRs under Article 32, but the court instructed him to seek relief under Section 406 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which allows for the transfer of a criminal case from one High Court to another or from a subordinate court under one High Court to a subordinate court under another High Court.
