Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has joined the list of leaders who have opposed lateral entry into the civil services after the Union Public Service Commission released an advertisement inviting applications to 45 posts in various departments of the central government.

The posts are open to all categories.

In a post on X, he called it a 'direct assault' on social justice and that it was "depriving the meritorious SC, ST, OBC and minority officers of their deserved opportunities at the top".

On the issue of creamy layer, Chief Minister Stalin stated that his party demanded its complete abolition and that they had always opposed the concept. He also stated that the ceiling for creamy layer should be raised in the meantime.

He ended his post with a call for conducting a caste census.
