Tamil Nadu: Senthil Balaji's Judicial Custody Extended Till 28 August By MP/MLA Special Court

An MP/MLA Special Court in Chennai today (25 August) extended Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) minister Senthil Balaji's judicial custody till 28 August. The judge also directed the Prisons department to produce him in person on that day.

He was produced before the court via video conference from the Puzhal prison in Chennai, where he is currently lodged.

Balaji was sent to judicial custody till 25 August by the Principal Sessions Court in Chennai after the conclusion of his five-day custody under the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

A statement issued by the ED stated that Balaji was non-cooperative and evasive during the investigation and an analysis of bank statements showed huge amounts of cash deposits.
