Senthil Balaji is undergoing treatment at the Omandurar Hospital in Chennai
The Principal Sessions Court in Chennai today (22 November) extended Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) minister Senthil Balaji's judicial custody till 4 December.
Balaji was produced before Judge S Alli via video conference from the Omandurar Hospital, where he was admitted a few days ago.
According to a PTI report, N Ramesh, the counsel for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a counter-affidavit to Balaji's plea seeking a copy of the documents seized during the investigation.
The counter-affidavit stated that all the documents related to the case had been produced before the court and also provided to him.
The judge then posted the matter for further hearing on 4 December.
During the last hearing on 20 November, Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi stated that Balaji was suffering from multiple ailments and a brain MRI showed that he could suffer a stroke if he was not treated.
The bench said that it did not appear to be very serious and is an old problem. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta too said that these were old and chronic issues.
The bench then asked for the latest medical reports to be produced on the next date of hearing.
