TN: DVAC Conducts Raids At Premises Of Former AIADMK MLA B Sathyanarayanan Accused Of Accumulating Disproportionate Assets

Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) are conducting raids at the premises of former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLA from T Nagar, B Sathyanarayanan. 16 places in Chennai and one each in Tiruvallur and Coimbatore are being searched.

Sathyanarayanan is accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure as MLA from 2016 to 2021.

The action of the DVAC comes after Justice N Anand Venkatesh of the Madras High Court in July 2023 ordered it to complete a preliminary inquiry within two months and file an FIR if necessary.

According to a report by DTNext, Sathyanarayanan had accumulated disproportionate assets worth Rs 2.64 crore.

This comes days after Justice Venkatesh took up suo moto revision of the acquittal and discharge of DMK's K Ponmudy, Thangam Thennarasu, KKSSR Ramachandran, I Periyasamy and the AIADMK's O Panneerselvam (who was expelled in 2022) and B Valarmathi in similar cases.
