Senthil Balaji's bail plea to be heard by the Madras High Court
Justice G Jayachandran of the Madras High Court has accepted a request for the early hearing of a bail plea filed by Minister Senthil Balaji. The matter would be heard tomorrow (11 October).
Balaji's judicial custody ends on 13 October. His previous bail plea was dismissed by the Principal Sessions Court. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had opposed his plea for bail, stating that he could tamper with evidence and influence witnesses if released as he is a powerful person.
The Court also felt that the medical issues mentioned in the plea were not of such nature that they could not be taken care of by doctors at the prison hospital.
Yesterday (9 October), he was taken to the Stanley Medical College Hospital due to sudden chest pain and high blood pressure. He was discharged later in the day and taken back to Puzhal prison.
