Annamalai asked the DMK govt to bring in global experts

Speaking to reporters about the flooding and waterlogging in Chennai by Cyclone Michaung, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai said that it was not the time to indulge in blame game but to look for solutions as to why the city is faced with a similar situation every year.

He said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, which has about 30 months left in its tenure, should think differently. He said that the government must move beyond politics and sending ministers to distribute aid and clear waterlogging.

The government should bring in global experts to find a solution and spend the money on projects in a corruption-free manner for the welfare of the people of Chennai, he said.

He cited the example of the central government, which brought in Professor Arnold Dix of Australia, who is the head of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association, for the rescue of the miners trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi.

Further, he added that the issue must be tackled well as the recurrence of floods and waterlogging have affected the image of Chennai and investors are moving away to other cities.

He also stated that staff of the Chennai corporation, state government, electricity board etc have been doing a good job under tough conditions.

In posts on X (formerly Twitter), he stated that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers have been delivering food and other essentials to people stranded in waterlogged areas across the city.

He also thanked Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant and Karnataka BJP state president BY Vijayendra for sending relief material to Tamil Nadu.
