After repeated incidents of electric two-wheelers catching fire, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has called for advance action by companies to recall all defective batches of Electric Vehicles.

After several mishaps involving electric two-wheelers in the last two months, Gadkari took to Twitter to inform that an expert panel has been constituted by the ministry to look into the incidents.

"We have constituted an Expert Committee to enquire into these incidents and make recommendations on remedial steps. Based on the reports, we will issue necessary orders on the defaulting companies," he said.

"We will soon issue quality-centric guidelines for Electric Vehicles," the minister added.

He said that the companies may take advance action to recall all defective batches of vehicles immediately.
