Apple is set to launch its latest iPhone model, the iPhone 15, with a significant twist.

For the first time, the new device assembled in India will be available on the global sales debut day, alongside the majority produced in China.

This move underscores India's rising production capabilities and marks a departure from Apple's previous strategy of predominantly offering Chinese-manufactured devices to customers worldwide.

Production of the iPhone 15 commenced at Foxconn Technology Group's facility in Tamil Nadu last month, as part of Apple's ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between its Indian and Chinese manufacturing operations.

Apple's shift towards increased manufacturing in India can be attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's incentives to bolster local production and the company's broader strategy of diversifying beyond China amidst geopolitical tensions. This move has made India an integral part of Apple's global manufacturing ecosystem.

The iPhone 15 is poised to be the most substantial update in three years, featuring enhancements to the camera system across the range and a more advanced 3-nanometer processor in the Pro models. This lineup is pivotal for rejuvenating sales, as Apple recently reported declining figures, primarily driven by subdued demand in key markets.

Furthermore, other Apple suppliers in India, such as Pegatron and a Wistron factory soon to be acquired by the Tata Group, are also expected to join in assembling the iPhone 15.

Apple's foray into the Indian market, with the opening of its first stores this year, signifies its recognition of the country as both a thriving retail market and a crucial long-term production hub.
