Elon Musk Appointed To Twitter Board, Says He'll Strive For Making 'Significant Improvements' To The Social Media Platform

Twitter chief executive Parag Agrawal on Tuesday (5 April) announced that the company is appointing Tesla CEO Elon Musk to its board.
Agrawal said that the Musk, who recently bought over 9 per cent stake in Twitter and became one of the largest shareholders in the company, would bring "great value" to the company's board.
"I’m excited to share that we’re appointing Elon Musk to our board! Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board," Agrawal tweeted.
Agrawal's announcement comes a day after media reports citing US security filings said that Elon Musk had bought 9.2 per cent stake in Twitter.
Musk had bought 73,486,938 shares in the social networking website on 14 March.
Following Agrawal's announcement regarding Musk's appointment to the Twitter board, the Tesla CEO said that he was looking forward to working with the Twitter CEO and the company board to make "significant improvements" to the social media platform.
"Looking forward to working with Parag & Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!," Musk tweeted.
Musk is quite active on Twitter and has over 80.4 million followers.
The tech billionaire in the past has criticised social media apps like Instagram claiming that "the happiest people on Instagram are some of the saddest people in real life".
However, Musk recently criticised Twitter as well, saying that he is giving 'serious thought' to building a new social media platform.
Few days ago, Musk asked his followers on Twitter if the social media platform upheld the principle of free speech.
