Reliance Jio launches JioSpace Fiber to provide internet services in rural areas in India
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, India's leading telecom company, has introduced its groundbreaking JioSpaceFiber satellite broadband service, unveiled at the India Mobile Congress.
This service marks India's inaugural satellite-powered giga fiber offering, aiming to bridge the digital divide.
Satellite broadband technology is rapidly expanding internet access to underserved regions across India.
Reliance Jio has already connected four remote locations as a testament to this technology's reach, including Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chattisgarh, Nabarangpur in Odisha, and ONGC in Jorhat, Assam.
Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, emphasized that Jio has already extended broadband access to millions of homes and businesses in India. With the advent of JioSpaceFiber, their mission is to bring connectivity to the millions who still lack access, as reported by Livemint.
To enhance the availability of Jio True5G, even in remote areas, Jio is leveraging satellite technology to boost mobile backhaul capacity.
A strategic partnership with SES, a satellite telecommunications company provides access to advanced medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology, including SES's O3b and O3b mPOWER satellites, ensuring reliable and scalable broadband services throughout India.
John-Paul Hemingway, SES Chief Strategy Officer, remarked, "We are proud to partner with Jio in supporting the Digital India initiative of the Government of India. Our innovative solution is designed to provide high-speed connectivity of multiple gigabits per second to any location in India."
Jio currently serves over 450 million Indians with high-speed broadband through fixed line and wireless connections.
The addition of JioSpaceFiber to their existing services, such as JioFiber and JioAirFiber, guarantees reliable, high-speed, and low-latency internet and entertainment access for consumers and businesses, regardless of their location.
