Blaming SP Rule's Misgovernance For Deoria Killings, Lone Survivor Of Dubey Family Declines Meeting Akhilesh Yadav

Devesh Dubey, the lone survivor of the family who was killed in Deoria by a mob, has declined to meet with Samajwadi Party's (SP) national president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He has also decided to not go back to his village, Fatehpur's Lehda Tola, and is staying in a residence in Ramnath Deoria.
According to Jagran, Devesh alleged that in 2014, during the SP regime, his father, Satyaprakash Dubey, had filed a complaint with the government that their land was being forcibly transferred by the influential local strongman Premchand Yadav.
"The land was under pressure transferred to Premchand Yadav. No action was taken at that time. I can't forget that incident. If that transfer didn't take place under the SP regime, my family wouldn't have faced such a massacre," he alleged.
"My uncle was not mentally fit. He was made to sign without money. Four rifles were pointed at us. At gunpoint, they stopped us from constructing house. Our farms were encroached at gunpoint. He (Premchand Yadav) constructed his mahal (palace) on school and forest department land," Devesh claimed.
He questioned how those who oppressed his family during their own government now have the audacity to come and meet him. Devesh expressed his unwillingness to meet Akhilesh Yadav under any circumstances. He also mentioned that supporters of the SP tried to meet him, saying that Akhilesh Yadav wanted to meet him.
"It is inappropriate for me to meet him because meeting him is dangerous to my life and property," he concluded.
The sequence of events leading to the Deoria killings began when Prem Yadav visited Satyaprakash Dubey's house on 2 October to resolve longstanding property dispute.
During their conversation, a woman attacked Yadav with a sharp-edged weapon. The news of Yadav's murder prompted a mob of his supporters to enter Dubey's house and brutally kill him along with four other family members.
The victims included Dubey's wife Kiran Dubey (52), daughters Saloni (18) and Nandani (10), and son Gandhi (15).
