"New Uttar Pradesh Of New India": CM Yogi Adityanath Declares UP Revenue-Surplus State, Exports Tripled

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday (16 November) that Uttar Pradesh has transitioned into a revenue-surplus state, breaking free from the BIMARU (Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh) category, once associated with economic weakness. In the last six years, the state has cultivated an environment conducive to industrialisation, he claimed.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the UP Pavilion at the 42nd Indian International Trade Fair-2023 held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. According to a government statement, Adityanath emphasised the state's commitment to the Prime Minister's vision of "Vocal for Local," highlighting that the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative in UP aims to transform the entire state into an export hub, generating job opportunities for thousands of youths.
During his visit to the ODOP Mart of UP Pavilion, the Chief Minister explored various stalls showcasing handmade products and engaged with artisans. He noted that, in addition to presenting ODOPs, the UP Pavilion aimed to exhibit efforts toward infrastructural development in the "new Uttar Pradesh of new India."
Adityanath mentioned that the UP International Trade Show, held in Greater Noida recently, attracted over 70,000 domestic and foreign buyers. He emphasised the success of the ODOP initiative, working towards exporting identified products from each district to the international market.
He highlighted that UP's exports have tripled to Rs 1.74 lakh crore, positioning the state as a significant growth engine for the country. Adityanath also shared that the Global Investors’ Summit in UP, held in February, garnered investment proposals exceeding Rs 38 lakh crore.
The event was attended by State MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad, and other senior officials, Hindustan Times reported.
