Samajwadi Party leaders from L to R: Mulayam Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav
Amid comments from various parties of the INDI Alliance attacking Sanatana Dharma, Samajwadi Party's (SP) MP Ram Gopal Yadav has called himself a "Sanatana Dharmi" (one who follows Sanatana Dharma).
Reacting to comments made by other leaders, he told ANI, "Some people make foolish statements, let them do but, we are people who believe in Sanatana Dharma...I am a supporter of Sanatana Dharma."
"I worship Rama, Krishna Shiva, everyone. I have visited Baba Vishwanath and other jyotirlingas. Ask those who attack Sanatan Dharma," Yadav added.
Yadav holds the position of national Secretary-General in SP and has been a Rajya Sabha MP since 2008. He has also served as a Lok Sabha MP of Sambhal from 2004 to 2008.
Yadav is a cousin of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and thus, SP chief and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav is his nephew.
Last month, Akhilesh Yadav's wife and Lok Sabha MP from Mainpuri, Dimple Yadav, too had supported Sanatana Dharma by stating, "We are Hindus and Hinduism is Sanatana Dharma. There are no enemies in Sanatana Dharma."
However, some members of SP, like Swami Prasad Maurya have been continuously targeting Hinduism and the party has not taken any action against them.
