Can Hydroxychloroquine Treat Coronavirus? Here’s What You Should Know
Health experts have reservations about a drug that is generating interest as a possible coronavirus treatment.
The National Task force for COVID-19, constituted by Indian Council of Medical Research, recommended the use of hydroxychloroquine as prophylaxis (preventive drug) of SARS-COV-2 infection for high risk population on 23 March.
The following high-risk population can be put under chemoprophylaxis with hydroxychloroquine:
• Asymptomatic Healthcare Workers involved in the care of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID
• Asymptomatic household contacts of laboratory confirmed cases
