Indonesia's envoy to Russia has said that Jakarta's invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin won't be rescinded.

The Indonesian ambassador Jose Tavares was speaking to Russia's state media TASS. The envoy added that invitation sent to any G20 leader by President Joko Widodo won't be taken back, even if other nations pressurise Indonesia.

"The ambassador added that the country hopes that the Russian president will participate at the summit.

The G20 summit is scheduled to take place from November 15-16. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also slated to attend to summit. Back in March, US President Joe Biden had suggested that Russia should be removed from G20.

The Indonesian ambassador said that the summit is an opportunity for "big economies to come together and solve the common problems we face now." There are also reports suggesting that the Ukrainian president has been invited to the G20 summit. If that is true, he will most likely attend the summit virtually.
