Russia’s defence ministry declared on Sunday that it has struck down and destroyed a military plant outside Kyiv, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports.

“During the night, high-precision, air-launched missiles destroyed an ammunitions factory near the settlement of Brovary, Kyiv region,” the ministry’s official statement read.

Meanwhile, Brovary Mayor Igor Sapozhko countered the claims that ‘some infrastructure objects were hit’ by the Russian forces.

“This morning a number of infrastructure facilities in our community have been hit... There could be outrages with power and water supplies and sewerage,” Sapozhko’s was quoted in a report by WION.

The Russian defence ministry has previously asserted that it has cleared the entire urban area of Mariupol of Ukrainian forces. It issued an ultimatum to the Ukrainian soldiers and asked them to surrender subsequently.

They even went to the extent of saying that the only remaining Ukrainian soldiers are in the Azovstal metalworks. Moscow added that their only chance of surviving is by laying down their arms and surrendering.

Last month, Russia said that it was pulling back troops from northern Ukraine to ensure that it gets control of the eastern Donbas region.
