Vladimir Putin

Russia has accused Ukraine of launching a drone attack aimed at assassinating President Vladimir Putin.

According to reports, the drones targeted the president's official residence, which is located in the Kremlin complex in the heart of Moscow.

Videos show a drone flying towards and exploding over the Kremlin Senate building, with another video showing the dome of the Senate building on fire. The Kremlin has labeled the attack as a "planned terrorist attack and an attempt on the life of the president."

Russian security services claim to have taken out two drones. Putin was not present in the complex at the time of the attack.

Ukraine has categorically denied any involvement in the drone attack.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, has been quoted by The New York Times saying, "Ukraine definitely has nothing to do with the drone attacks on the Kremlin."

Podolyak suggested that Russia may use the claim to launch another attack against Ukraine in the coming days. Ukrainian officials have also stated that they are willing to cooperate in any investigation into the attack.

The drone attack on the Kremlin is likely to further escalate tensions between the two countries. The Kremlin has warned of the right to retaliate, which could lead to a further escalation of the ongoing conflict. The US has called for calm and for both sides to refrain from any actions that could further escalate the conflict.
