India is ready for the safe evacuation of its citizens from violence-hit Sudan.

Two C-130J military transport aircraft are on standby in Jeddah and an Indian Navy ship, INS Sumedha, has reached Port Sudan in the region to assist in the evacuation process.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has prepared evacuation plans for Indians, but implementation relies on the security situation on the ground, according to a statement.

The security in Sudan is unstable with intense fighting reported from Khartoum, the capital.

The Ministry assured its efforts in ensuring the safety and security of Indians stranded in Sudan, closely monitoring the dynamic security situation.

The MEA said they are working closely with partners to ensure safe evacuation of stranded Indians in Sudan.

The Ministry and the Indian embassy are in regular contact with the Sudanese authorities, the United Nations, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and the United States.

India's government is pursuing multiple options for quick action as part of their preparations, the MEA said.

Foreign planes cannot fly over Sudan, and overland travel poses risks and logistical issues.
