Ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to New Delhi, India on Wednesday (23 March) rejected his remarks on Kashmir during his address to the Oranisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference in Islamabad.

In response to media queries on Yi's remarks on Kashmir at the OIC meet in Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We reject the uncalled reference to India by the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his speech at the Opening Ceremony".

"Matters related to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir are entirely the internal affairs of India," he added.

The MEA spokesperson further said that "Other countries including China have no locus standi to comment" on Kashmir issue.

"They should note that India refrains from public judgement of their internal issues," Bagchi said.

Yi is arriving in India today for a two day exploratory visit with the objective of putting the derailed bilateral ties back on rails.

At the OIC meeting, Wang said : "On Kashmir, we have heard again today the calls of many of our Islamic friends. And China shares the same hope."

The statement by Minister Wang was open-ended and effectively offered support to all that was spoken on Jammu and Kashmir by the OIC foreign ministers, reports Hindustan Times.

It should be noted that India refrains from commenting on the Sunni Muslim Uighur repression in Xinjiang and the Buddhist repression in Tibet apart from maintaining balance on status of Taiwan and new security laws in Hong Kong.
