Indian National Dies In Khartoum Amid Sudanese Army-Paramilitary Clashes; "Deeply Grieved," Says S Jaishankar

An Indian national named Albert Augustine has died in Sudan's Khartoum after he was hit by a stray bullet on Saturday (15 April) amid the ongoing violence in the Sudanese capital.
Augustine was working for a company owned by Dal Group, as informed by the Indian Embassy in Khartoum.
"It has been reported that Mr Albert Augestine, an Indian National working in a Dal Group Company in Sudan who got hit by a stray bullet yesterday succumbed to his injuries," the Embassy of India in Khartoum said in a tweet.
The embassy said it is in touch with his family.
"Deeply grieved to learn about the death of an Indian national in Khartoum," India's external affairs minister, S Jaishankar, said in a tweet.
"The situation in Khartoum remains one of great concern. We will continue to monitor developments," he added.
The escalating violence is a result of the Sudanese Armed Forces clashing with the country’s main paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces.
The Indian Embassy in Sudan has, thus, sent out a "notice to all Indians."
"IN VIEW OF REPORTED FIRINGS AND CLASHES, ALL INDIANS in Sudan ARE ADVISED TO TAKE UTMOST PRECAUTIONS, STAY INDOORS AND STOP VENTURING OUTSIDE WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT," the notice, tweeted twice on 15 April, read.
The embassy has advised Indians who have plans to travel to Sudan to postpone them. It has also urged people to stay calm and wait for updates.
The settled Indian community in Sudan numbers about 1,500.
