India strongly responded to Pakistan's UN envoy raising Kashmir issue at a UN General Assembly meet, stating that no amount of "rhetoric and propaganda" can change the fact that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are and will always be an "inalienable" part of the country.

Counsellor in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN Pratik Mathur made the remarks after Pakistan's Permanent Representative at the UN Munir Akram spoke about Jammu and Kashmir in his statement at the UNGA meeting.

During the UN General Assembly plenary on "Use of Veto" on 26 April, Mathur said that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of India.

He asserted that no amount of misinformation, rhetoric, or propaganda from any country can alter this fact.

"The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. No amount of misinformation, rhetoric and propaganda from any country can deny this fact," Mathur said.

Pakistan frequently raises the Jammu and Kashmir issue at UN meetings regardless of the agenda.

In response, India has repeatedly asserted that J&K and Ladakh were, are and will always be an integral and inalienable part of the country.

India's Ambassador to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, refused to respond to Pakistan's comments on Jammu and Kashmir during a Security Council meeting on Monday (24 April), calling them "mischievous" and a waste of time.
