The Ministry of Interior in Pakistan has reported an increasing influx of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal districts.
Additionally, the Islamic State (ISIS) is attempting to establish a foothold in the country, according to a report from The Hindu.
The ministry revealed that the TTP has reorganised and expanded its operations, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and is seeking support from other militant groups.
The arrival of TTP members, along with recruitment and training of suicide bombers in merged districts, is a significant concern.
The ministry also noted that ISIS is trying to establish itself in Pakistan, engaging in terrorist activities against Shias and religious minority communities to fuel sectarian strife.
Despite the completion of fencing along the western borders to curb illegal movement, both TTP and ISIS, particularly TTP, continue to sabotage the fence.
The report highlighted increased militant attacks following the revocation of a ceasefire in November 2022.
In a deadly attack in December, militants affiliated with Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan targeted a military compound, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 23 Pakistan Army soldiers.
