PM Modi Raises Concerns Over Recent Attacks On Hindu Temples In Talks With Australian Counterpart Albanese

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (24 May) raised India's concerns over the recent attacks on Hindu temples and Khalistani activities in Australia with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese.
In their wide ranging talks, the two Prime Ministers also agreed to focus on strengthening economic ties by finalising a comprehensive economic cooperation agreement (CECA.
In his media statement, PM Modi highlighted the significance of the India-Australia cooperation, saying it is crucial for regional peace, stability and global welfare.
PM Modi said he and Albanese had previously talked about attacks on temples and separatist activities in Australia.
"We discussed the matter today as well," PM Modi said, reports The Hindu.
"It is not acceptable to us that anyone hurt the friendly and cordial ties between India and Australia by their actions or ideology," he said.
PM Modi thanked the Australian PM for taking action against those involved in such incidents.
"Prime Minister Albanese assured me once again today that he will take strict actions against such elements in the future also," PM Modi added.
PM Modi stated that the frequency of his meetings with the Australian counterpart reflects the depth of India-Australia relationship.
"This is our sixth meeting in the last one year, indicative of the warmth in the India-Australia friendship. In cricketing terminology- we are firmly in T-20 mode," he said.
"In today’s talks, the focus was on sectors such as mining, critical minerals, renewable energy, trade, commercial linkages and more," he said.
The two sides also decided to focus on cooperation in areas of green hydrogen.
In his statement, Albanese announced that a new Australian Consulate General will be set up in Bengaluru.
