PM Modi at Quad Summit (Image via Twitter)
In lieu of the ongoing debt ceiling negotiations in the US and the subsequent withdrawal from the scheduled Quad Summit in Australia, the Summit has now been postponed to be held in Hiroshima on the lines of the G7 meet — scheduled to happen there — where PM Modi is an invitee.
Notably, it is the first time after the Pokhran Nuclear tests that an Indian PM will be visiting Hiroshima, in the backdrop of the fact that India has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Reportedly, Australian PM Albanese had called off the Quad meet after the withdrawal of US, mentioning its postponement, which has now been decided to be held on the by-lines of the G7 meet considering all leaders would be present there.
PM Modi will reach Hiroshima on 19 May.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
