In a disturbing development, a Hindu temple has been vandalised in United States' New Jersey.

The Shree Umiya Dham Hindu Temple in Edison, New Jersey was vandalised with “Free Palestine” graffiti by miscreants on 30 October.

CoHNA, a Hindu advocacy group in the US, have condemned the incident and urged the authorities to bring the perpetrators to swift justice.

According to CoHNA, “Free Palestine” graffiti on a Hindu temple is a result of the Hinduphobic narrative peddled by “academics”, who portray Hindus as “colonisers” of Kashmir and draw false parallels with Palestine.

The outfit said that Shree Umiya Dham temple was also one of over 50 organisations who signed a coalition letter against Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee's Hinduphobic and hate filled resolution.

"We fear the vandalism incident may be potentially linked to such anti-Hindu propaganda in NJ [New Jersey] and academia," the CoHNA said in a tweet.

"This latest act of vandalism adds to the growing concerns of the Hindu community in NJ [New Jersey] and beyond," it added.
