In a boost to Make In India, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract worth Rs 1,700 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for thirteen Lynx U2 Fire Control Systems (FCS).
The Lynx U2 FCS is a Naval Gun Fire Control system that is capable of accurately tracking and engaging air and sea targets amidst sea clutter.
The FCS is a fourth-generation indigenous system developed by BEL and will be used on the eleven Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPVs).
The contract is signed under Buy Indian – IDDM (Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) category and will generate employment of two-lakh man-days over four years.
This contract will encourage the participation of MSMEs in the Indian Defence sector in line with the Government Make-In-India program.
