Abandoned Pakistani Boats Found In Gujarat; South And Peninsular India On Target Of Terrorists, Says Army

Raising the threat of a major impending terrorist stroke in South and Peninsular India, Lt Gen SK Saini stressed on Monday (9 September) that the Indian Army had credible intelligence inputs corroborating the same, reports The Hindu.

Lt Gen Saini who is the GOC-in-command for the Army's Southern Command informed the media persons at an event in Pune that the Indian Army had recovered some abandoned Pakistani boats in the Sir Creek area of Gujarat.

“We have got many inputs that there may be a terrorist attack in the southern part of India and the peninsular India,” he said.

After the increase in threat perception by Lt Gen Saini, Kerala Police has heightened the security cover across the state, with the Director-General of Police (DGP) having stressed on keeping vigil at all bus stands, railway stations, airports and other places where people gather in big numbers to celebrate Onam.

Similarly, security apparatus at vital installations and along the 974-kilometer long coast in Andhra Pradesh has also been beefed up.

Meanwhile, the state of Tamil Nadu has been on a high alert since last month when certain intelligence inputs had indicated that terrorists had infiltrated into the state and were preparing to carry out terrorist strikes in cities like Coimbatore.
