A 30-year-old youth wing leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was killed in Kashmir by terrorists on Thursday, NDTV has reported.
The throat-slit body of the leader, identified as Gowhar Ahmad Bhat, was found yesterday under mysterious conditions in Kiloora area of south Kashmir's Shopian.
According to India Today, police has found torture marks on the Bhat's body.
Bhat, a resident of Bonagam Shopian, was a prominent leader of BJP’s youth wing Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha and held the district president post.
BJP President Amit Shah condoled Bhat's death in a series of tweets, saying terrorists would fail to stop the youth from choosing a better future.
"Pained to learn about the brutal murder of our @BJYM District President Gowhar Ahmed in Shopian, J&K. My deepest condolences to his family. Terrorists must realise that they cannot stop the youth of the valley from choosing a better future for themselves," Shah said in one of his tweets.
