Delhi University’s move to approach CBSE for getting students’ mark sheets and certificates verified is to ensure that cases of fake documents being submitted for admissions can be reduced, reports Business Standard.
"If we get access to the CBSE database of students, there will be surety of almost 80 per cent of students, while we can get the rest of the mark sheets and certificates verified from respective boards, thereby ensuring more transparency," an official said.
The official said it would also reduce stress for students who will not have to submit their mark sheets during the time of admissions.
Ankit Basoya had allegedly submitted fake mark sheets to gain admission to Delhi University and was elected as president of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU), but his admission was cancelled following the row, and a case was registered against him.
The admission process for the 2019-2020 academic session will tentatively begin on 15 April.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
