The lone BJP MLA from Telangana T Raja Singh was banned from Facebook today, reports TOI.
“We have banned Raja Singh from Facebook for violating our policy prohibiting those that promote or engage in violence and hate from having a presence on our platform,” read a statement given by the Facebook spokesperson.
Singh, on the other hand, has said that he has not been on the social media platform since April 2019. He said in a statement that his account was hacked in 2018 and a complaint was also filed with the police.
He released a video and asked Facebook to allow him to create a new account.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Facebook India Ajit Mohan while appearing before the Standing Committee for Information Technology admitted that he had worked as a consultant with the Congress party in Kerala.
During the course of the interview Mohan said that he has now withdrawn all the articles he had written against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.
The social media giant was also questioned over the visible bias against Indian right-wing including the alleged usage of derogatory language by its chief Kanchan Kaur against the BJP government, and Facebook staff members creating groups like Facebook For Muslims and posts on Hindu gods and goddesses being branded as hate posts.
