Scientists working at Israel’s Institute for Biological Research have reportedly made significant breakthrough in understanding SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for the current coronavirus outbreak.
The researchers as a result are soon expected to announce that they have completed the development of a vaccine, Haaretz has reported.
As part of their research the scientists are said to have understood the biological mechanism and qualities of the virus. Besides vaccine development, the scope of their study includes enhancing diagnostic capability and better antibody production for those who have already contacted the virus.
Post the development of the vaccine, it will be subjected to a variety of tests and experiments before being market ready. The clinical trials on both animals and humans take month to complete but may be sped up due to the ongoing crisis.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
