Samba Superintendent of police (SSP) Rajesh Sharma informed that on Sunday (1 August) night, suspected drone activity was reported from four different places in the Bari Brahmana area of the district.
Earlier on Friday, suspected drone activity was reported from three different areas. On 16 July, a drone operating around the Jammu air base was picked up by the anti-drone system deployed by the National Security Guard (NSG). The system was deployed after a drone attack on the base last month.
Strict measures have been taken, and similar systems have been deployed by the Air Force at important air bases across the country to address threats from small drones.
After the Jammu attack last month, the instances of drone spotting have gone up, and in several cases the Border Security Force and Indian Army personnel fired on them.
Mid July, Intelligence agencies warned of a possible terror attack using drones in Delhi ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on 15th August.
The security agencies said that the terror groups can carry out the attacks in the national capital on 5 August - the day Article 370 giving special status granted to the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was scrapped.
