Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces on Saturday (31 July) in the Dachigam forest area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.
The encounter started after a joint team of the police and army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
"Exact location of encounter is between Namibian & Marsar, general area Dachigam forest," the J&K police said in a tweet.

Confirming the deaths, the police said that a search is currently underway in the area.
The security forces also recovered AK and M-4 rifles from their possession.
One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Adnan alias Ismail alias Lamboo, the top commander of Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad in Kashmir. Identity of second slain terrorist is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
Earlier last week also, the security forces had gunned down two terrorists in Shokbaba forests in Bandipora district.
