The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is the implementing agency of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, on Wednesday (24 April) announced that the design theme of the 508-km bullet train project's Sabarmati station will be based on the Sabarmati river to "honour the significance" of the river.
"Sabarmati River holds a very significant place for the people of Sabarmati and Ahmedabad, it is not only one of the most popular tourist destinations but also a source of water for the city," the NHSRCL said in a tweet.
"Thus, to honour the significance of this famous attraction, the theme of HSR station design over here will be based on a 'Sabarmati River'," it added.
Earlier on Tuesday (23 February), the NHSRCL had announced that the theme of the high speed rail station at Surat, which is known for its Diamond industry, will be based on 'Diamonds'.
