"We are not against the demonetisation move at all, but the manner in which it was implemented that affected poor people," she said in the Rajya Sabha. Mayawati also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remain present for the debate before the house was adjourned for lunch.
She also challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dissolve the Lok Sabha and seek fresh mandate to know the real mood of the nation. Mayawati's remarks came after the government on Wednesday said over 93 per cent of people taking part in an app-based survey supported the move.
